Banas, Phyllis Erb, of Orchard Park, NY, September 11th, 2026, at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Henry A. Banas. Loving mother of Sandra L. (James) Trampert, Sue J. Banas and John H. Banas. Cherished grandmother of Julia (Erdal) Trampert Kucuker and Alyssa (Peter) Trampert Grew. Great grandmother of Mildred and Evren Kucuker. Sister of the late Lawrence (survived by Shirley) Erb.
Phyllis Banas was a multi-talented woman who juggled homemaking and parenting to three children along with involvement in many worthy and interesting endeavors over her 94 years of life. She contributed to the betterment of the world around her. Phyllis' deep interest in government and history showed itself in many ways. She was very involved in The League of Women Voters for many years and held administrative positions in the organization. She had an astounding fascination with history and could recite a vast array of historical information as though she was a walking encyclopedia! Her passion for books led her to an active and tireless involvement with The Friends of the Orchard Park Public Library. She relished in the fact that she was a vital part of the successful ' The Fourth Tuesday of the Month Speakers Series' committee that sponsored many interesting speakers, along with her cheerful and enthusiastic involvement in the library's successful book sales.
Healthy foods and supplements were a valuable part of own life and certainly contributed to her zestful and energetic lifestyle. As a pioneer in the nutrition field, she owned and managed her own health food store in Orchard Park during the 1980's. Physical fitness also contributed to her vibrancy. She was an avid hiker, walker, and tennis player during most of her life and enjoyed the great outdoors. She loved skiing with family and friends at the former Glenwood Acres and then Sitzmarker Ski Club, which was founded by her brother Larry Erb. She and her late husband (Henry) took their children on many camping trips throughout the country in the tent camper that Henry proudly made himself. Phyllis' sincere kindness, loyal friendship, and sweet humor will be so missed by so many friends and especially her family.
