Mary Ellen (Simons) Robel, of Orchard Park, NY, passed away on June 24, 2026.
She was the beloved wife of the late John N. Robel; loving mother of Suellen M. (Jeff) Konsella, Christopher J. (Shari Seefeldt) and Matthew J. (Marnie) Robel; grandmother of Rebecca (Clayton) Young, Lauren (Erik) Hopkins, Mallory and Jessa; great-grandmother of Henry and Lewis. Daughter of the late Francis and Agnes (Beaver) Simons. Dear sister of the late Albert (survived by Marylou) Simons, Donald (Teresa) Simons, William Simons, late Richard (late Pat) Simons, Dean (Jan) Simons, and Laurel (late B.K.) Walford. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Mary Ellen Robel a devout Catholic was from Strykersville, NY.
Part of a large and close-knit and supportive family/extended family always there for each other through the good and the inevitable hard times.
She often shared that she took dance lessons and marched & twirled her baton in parades.
She graduated from Arcade High School class of 1959.
On May 19, 1962, she married the love of her life John Robel also devout Catholic from a close knit family on the hottest day of the year 94 degrees in the shade as she always told!
They planted their roots in Orchard Park where they grew their family tree with so much love and faith.
She worked at Delavan Electronics where she had some very close friends and would take time away from working to raise her children.
She loved to read and most of all loved to read to her children, grandchildren and got to read to her great grandson!
She taught her children responsibility, life skills and the importance of education. She always said "when you go to college" never "if" you go.
She couldn't help but to brag about her granddaughters and loved to be with them as they grew into adults. They really loved their Grandparents!!
Through the years she did a lot of sewing and for a time when her children were small would make Halloween costumes that were then intended to be their pajamas!
She crocheted blankets for baby showers.
She Loved to do crossword puzzles.
She Loved her Mom's chili sauce recipe and there was always enough around to last the whole year!
When John and Mary Ellen discovered the game of golf on their first trip to Myrtle Beach, there was no turning back! They vacationed there just about every year for the month of March after that! They introduced us to the game and now, many of us are hooked! She participated in the annual Drive out Breast Cancer Golf Tournaments with family and friends annually at Silver Lake. The weekly 9 holes at Byrncliff was a staple but they traveled around playing at a lot of different courses especially with the Kandlers and had a blast!
Speaking of being hooked, family vacations were going to a lake usually in Canada and fishing and boating grew into a great love of boating and fishing throughout the summers. In the winters, cross country skiing got the whole family outside having fun and laughing a lot!
Mary Ellen and John loved to throw a party and go to weddings and just celebrate life!
She became involved with the "Red Hat Ladies" and involved some close friends and family and made a lot of new friends going on fun outings.
For many decades Mary Ellen was a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Bernadette Church which she truly loved to be able to serve.
Mary Ellen will be forever missed by all her family and extended family.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 1st, from 4 PM - 7 PM at the F. E. BROWN SONS FUNERAL HOME, 6575 E. Quaker St., Orchard Park, NY.
