Douglas R. Redmond

Douglas Ray Redmond December 23, 1927 - October 4, 2016 Born in Ogdensburg, NY. Survived by nine nieces and nephews. Attended schools in Ogdensburg and studied engineering at Clarkson. Served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948. Awarded the World War II Victory medal by the Army of Occupation of Japan. Doug started to work for the Derrick Company in Buffalo in 1956 retiring in 1994 as a proud member of the Derrick Company family. He was known as a problem solver and wizard when it came to shaping an idea into a machine. He participated in many local and national vintage automobile shows. He was a renowned artisan in reconstructing old cars, bicycles and motorcycles. He won first prizes at antique vehicle shows. Before his death, he donated many of his works to The Buffalo Transportation Pierce Arrow Museum and consulted with James and Mary Ann Sandoro of the museum in the development of exhibits and displays. The museum will have a permanent Doug Redmond exhibit.

There will be a memorial service honoring Doug's life at The Buffalo Transportation Museum on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 10 am.
