Carol Sue (Belurgi) Thornton, born June 27, 1941, passed away on April 12th, 2026, surrounded by the deep love of the family she cherished throughout her life. Born to Frank J. Belurgi and Grace T. (Raimondo) Belurgi, Carol grew up in Orchard Park, where she formed lifelong friendships. She was the beloved sister of Barbara and Frank, and sister‑in‑law to Sheila. Carol married the love of her life, William J. Thornton, and together they shared 64 years together. She was the devoted mother of William (Lynne), John (Raelea), Thomas (Julie), Molly (James), and Eric (Tracy). She carried in her heart the memory of their son Timothy, who predeceased her and remained forever loved. To her grandchildren, she was simply Mimi. She is lovingly remembered by Michael, Alyssa, Samuel, Ryan, Catherine, John, Lucas, Gabriel, Oscar, Anna, and Richard, as well as step‑grandchildren James (Ashley), Evan, and Iris. Carol's life was rooted in family. She treasured her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and the wide circle of friends who felt like family and her Italian and Sicilian heritage. She will be remembered for her gentle strength, her boundless love, and her unwavering devotion to her faith and family. Wake to be held Thursday, April 16th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at F.E. Brown Sons Funeral Home, 6575 E. Quaker Street, Orchard Park, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 17th at 11 AM in Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 26 Thorn Avenue, Orchard Park. Please assemble at church. Interment will be at the Nativity of Our Lord Cemetery on Highland Avenue. Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities of Buffalo.
