Betty L. Barnett

December 29, 1932 — September 24, 2024

Betty Louise Barnett (1932-2024)
Leaving a legacy of devotion to her faith and family, Betty Louise Barnett (Taylor, Struebel) of Orchard Park went to be with Jesus on Sept. 24, 2024.
She was the beloved wife of Robert Barnett and cherished mother of Thomas (Marcia) and Mark (Philip Kuznicki) Taylor, her children with her former husband, the late James Taylor. She was stepmother to Debra (Gary) Beers, Judy (John) Hilliker and Randall (Karen) Barnett.
Predeceased by her husband Robert Struebel, Betty was stepmother to Robert, Mark and the late James (Sharon) Struebel.
She was grandmother of Ian (Kaileigh) Taylor and step-grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 33 greatgrandchildren. Also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Born in Olean on Dec. 29, 1932, Betty was the daughter of the late Thea and Wesley Garrepy. After graduating from Buffalo State College in 1954, Betty taught in Cuba, N.Y. and Orchard Park, retiring in 1989. In her 42 years at Orchard Park Wesleyan Church, she served on the church board, taught VBS, led Keenager trips and sang in the choir. She loved to see people find Jesus Christ as their Savior!
Betty exemplified the gift of hospitality. She and Bob hosted many visiting missionaries, international students and wonderful holiday gatherings that always had room for one more in their cozy home, lovingly dubbed by family as "Bobetty's Bed & Breakfast."
Betty was an active volunteer, especially with Bob. She served on the board of Little People's PreSchool and at City Mission, taught English to refugees at Jericho Road Ministries, officiated track and field events and led neighborhood Bible studies.
During her last year at Orchard Heights Assisted Living, she made many new friends and was cared for and loved by the wonderful, compassionate staff.
The family will receive visitors Saturday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Orchard Park Wesleyan Church, 7295 Ellicott Road, Orchard Park. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11 a.m.
Donations in Betty's memory may be made to Orchard Park Wesleyan Church. Arrangements by the F.E. Brown Sons Funeral Home, Orchard Park. Share condolences online at www.febrownsons.com .
